Move Rudder
Pedals For More Legroom
June 2005 - After installing the
Velocity rudder pedals last year (before the upholstery was installed) to where
I thought was the right location for my legs, I have since determined they are
too close (because of the seat cushion thickness) and cause me to have my knees
jammed under the instrument panel when my feet are on the pedals. I can actuate
them fine, but its uncomfortable to keep my feet on the pedals for extended
periods of time. While doing the nose repair from my
gear up landing, I took the opportunity to
move the pedals forward three more inches and also build new brake cylinder
actuators similar to ones I saw on Steve Wright's StaggerEZ. I fabricated these
from a block of aluminum and they are much better than the steel sliding tubes I
had been using. The steel - even though painted - had started to rust and I HATE
rust!! To see pictures and details of the installation go
